Stonybrook estimates Milton costs at $30B to $50B

Dear friends and colleagues,

Please see our comprehensive assessment of Hurricane Milton, which made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, causing widespread wind and flood damage. We estimate the insured losses and expense from Milton will range between $30 billion and $50 billion (excluding NFIP coverage).

At the high end of the range, these losses will place Hurricane Milton among the most severe storms in recent history. Our analysis covers the impact across various insurance sectors and anticipates a significant effect on reinsurance markets, continuing into the 2025 renewal season.

Please see Stonybrook Capital’s review – “Hurricane Milton – Assessment”.
