Boutique insurance advisory firm Stonybrook Capital and Risk Management has added former Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group president and CEO Ed Yorty as a strategic advisor.
Yorty has spent the last two and a half decades in senior positions at mutual insurers, with stints at Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society and Oregon Mutual Insurance Group before joining Pharmacists Mutual in 2011.
The executive has an actuarial and finance background and also held roles in ceded reinsurance as well as overseeing commercial insurance before his move to Algona, Iowa-based Pharmacists Mutual.
Commenting on the addition of Yorty, Stonybrook CEO and principal Joe Scheerer said: “I could not be any more pleased and flattered with Ed’s joining our team.
“Not only am I looking forward to working with him, but also, his credibility and professional network are something we both anticipate will catapult our firm and more importantly, enhance our client service.”
Yorty added: “Joe has built a well-respected firm offering top tier advice and service. I am delighted to be part of his team.”
Stonybrook has brought in a number of industry veterans in recent years as it has continued to build out its platform.
They include industry veteran Ian Winchester as chairman, Greg Morrison as a partner and board member based in Bermuda and Chris Harman as partner in its London operation.
